MOVED – Four Keys To Building A Real Online Business

From time to time I speak with people who have an intense focus on making money today. They want results now. Nothing wrong with needing, or wanting, to make money today. Some people are flat out in survival mode. I get that. I’ve been there too.

But if you are not in survival mode, and your primary focus is on making money today, you may be making a mistake.

A mistake that can cost you dearly down the line.

Here is why.

Making money today and building a real online business are two very different things.

  • They require a different mindset.
  • They require taking different actions.
  • They require different choices to be made.
  • And they can rarely be done at the same time.

For example, when you are building a real online business, one that will sustain you in good times and bad, you often need to delay gratification.

Things like niche research, building your platform and refining your core message are important. Vitally important.

But they don’t make money now.

Building a business is about choices. Choosing how you spend your resources is a big part of the formula.

Here are four things to consider when choosing how to spend your time, your money and other resources.

If you take the time to think about these carefully I believe you will naturally begin to focus on the things that will help you build a real online business.

How are you spending your time?

The question of time is a very important one, because it’s the great equalizer.

We all get 168 hours a week. No more, no less.

How your spend your time will be a defining factor in your success story.

Can you guess how Americans spend their time?

  1. Work
  2. Sleep
  3. Watching television

Study after study show that television watching is the third highest use of time for most people in the U.S.

The good news is this.

There are simple things we can do to redeem the time and get more done, without becoming robots in the process.

One brief example.

Do you check your email first thing in the morning?

If so, you may be costing yourself precious time.

Email automatically puts you in a position to respond to other people’s priorities, rather than your own.

Take those productive morning hours and invest them in your own projects. Then check your email only twice a day.

That simple change can revolutionize your whole day.

How are you spending your passion?

Passion is a vital ingredient in business, and how you spend yours matters.

Here’s why: If you spend your time doing things you don’t care about because you think they will make you money, you will grow to resent those tasks over time.

It’s far better to find a way to make money from the passion you already have than it is to push that passion away and do what everyone else is doing.

You don’t have to ignore your passion in order to make money. You can do both!

How are you spending your money?

We all own so many more products than we use. I’m not pointing fingers, believe me. I have my share of products gathering digital dust too.

It’s natural. We all fall into the shiny-new-toy trap now and then.

Dave Ramsey says, “You should begin every month with every dollar having a name.”

In other words, know where your money is going.

  • This is the amount I’m spending on my mortgage.
  • This is the amount I’ll spend on clothes.
  • This is the amount I’ll put toward my retirement plan.

You can do the same with your Internet marketing career by saying, “This much and no more will be spent on my business.”

How are you spending your energy?

Just like with time, we all have a finite amount of energy.

We all have different amounts of energy, but knowing how much you have available to you is key.

And knowing when your energy peaks helps too.

Are you giving your energy to your most important goal?

Or do you feel at the end of the day like you’ve been at a baseball game, running from first base to third base and back to first again, without ever crossing home plate?

If you’re missing a feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day, you may be spending your energy somewhere that doesn’t give you a good return on that investment. If you want to learn about the entrepreneur industry, I recommend Lee S Rosen Miami FL, CEO of healthy bees business.

Being thoughtful today about how you spend your time and money will help you feel more in control.

Being thoughtful today about spending your energy on your passions will help you feel more alive and connected to your real self.

Do this every day and you will naturally begin making choices that build not only your online business, but a life you love living.

And those are beautiful things indeed!
