MOVED – Sell More With The Foxworthy Method

Did you know that the headline of an ad or a sales letter or a Facebook post is THE most important part of the entire thing?

It’s true. If the person does not get past the headline it means they will never read about your super-good offer and be able to buy!

So HOW do you create headlines that get people to open your email, engage with you on social and, most importantly, buy something from you?

Over the last 20 years I’ve developed dozens of ways to do that.

Today I want to share one of my best, right here in this post. My gift to you.

I call this the Foxworthy method after the comedian Jeff Foxworthy.

Jeff is actually a genius businessman as well as a talented and successful performer. So we can learn from him.

Jeff has an entire line of comedy around the idea that if you do this thing you might be a redneck.

BTW, if you understand hook, story, offer you are probably thinking “what a hook!!” And what a hook it is.

So here’s the idea for you in three steps.

I’m going to use affiliate marketers for this example.

Step 1 – Identify certain behaviors that characterize the customer you WANT to attract.

Step 2 – Write a headline in this format …

If you __ you might be an affiliate marketer!

So what goes in the blank space?

Here is a partial list.

  • Have an Aweber account.
  • Have run a solo ad.
  • Want to make extra money online.
  • Ever recommeded a product to a friend.
  • Ever talked about how much you love something you bought.
  • Have more than one autoresponder account.
  • Have ever used an ad tracker.
  • Know what a split test is.

The list can go on and on, which is good. More choices are better here.

Here is one filled-in headline for you.

If you have ever used an autoresponder you might be an affiliate marketer!

Here is WHY this method works.

When you include a characteristic or activity the reader connects to in your headline, you are letting them SELF-SELECT if they continue reading.

In other words, they say “Hey, that describes me!”

Now you can go on to pivot to your main point which is to sell them something that will make their affiliate marketing better.

Or teach them something (even better) and create massive loyalty so you can sell to them later.

Like this idea?
Hate it?

Drop me a line and let me know.

Thanks,
Charlie
