It’s Memorial Day here in the states. A day when we stop to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
They gave it all. Their very lives. What Abraham Lincoln called “the last full measure of devotion”.
There are few things I hate. War is one of them.
Today we honor those who hated war as well … but who went anyway.
Who braved the heat and the cold and the loneliness and the fear.
Who pushed on despite the odds, swallowed hard and did their very best.
Who — and we should never forget this one — kept us free.
If you are free today stop and remember those who gave everything they had to help you stay that way.
Even if you hate war, as I do, please take the time to honor the sacrifices made on all our behalves.
And, if you pray, pray that wars will end.
